what I think is wicked knickers

I thought the original version of these was good – then I went and dipped them in chocolate.  Viper reckons these are ‘the best things I have ever made.’  I simply added 2T cacao powder to the original recipe, melted some vegan friendly dark chocolate, and dipped away.  Between Viper, me and Misty these little balls don’t stand a chance.  They are definitely deserving of the “wicked knickers” description.

I’ve been running around like a headless chook today, preparing for the arrival of my soon-to-be sisters-in-law.  Sister-in-law aka Aunty Netsky is bringing along Misty’s cousin, Mopsy.  These two were born on the same day, 2 hours apart – they don’t get to see each other very often either so things could get interesting – hope there are no fights over the new snuggly.

Anyway, this will be the last time I get to hang with these gals before the wedding.  I’m not going to be so rash to call this gathering of beautiful birds a “Hen’s Party” or anything, but let’s just say a lot of squawking and tipple-drinking will go on.

Today, I thought I’d share with you a few lovely ladies who I consider to be “wicked knickers” – I’m useless at all those “Blog Award” type things, but I love to be introduced to new blogs (because let’s be honest, sometimes it’s hard to navigate to quality through the sea of bloggy-waters).

Hannah @ Wayfaring Chocolate

Possible one of my longest-time readers?  Hannah is just a ray of sunshine, wrapped in a sparkly bow, and offering you a delicious assortment of chocolatey treats.  She is a fantastic writer, and her “tasting notes” for describing chocolate is just incredible – how do you taste such things, dear Hannah?  She is about to embark on an adventure into the unknown… I’m so looking forward reading all about it.

Em @ Wine and Butter

Em has it DOWN when it comes to balance.  A girl after my own heart, she is so passionate (andnowledgeable) about REAL food, but also knows that moderation is key (mojito, Em?)  She comes up with fantastic recipes that will appeal to vegetarians, meat eaters and vegans alike – plus she is darn hilarious.

Gabby @ The Veggie Nook

This girl is so incredibly sweet I almost can’t stand it.  She is also a wealth of knowledge – I have grown so fond of reading (and learning!) about her experiences with detoxing, fueling herself for work outs and settling in to her vegan-life-loving regime.

Tianna @ TeaBagginit

I would so like to eat sweet potato skins, cold tofu, apple cores and broccoli stalks with T.  She is my weirdo-taste-bud twin.  She also has some pretty incredible kitchen creativity going on… plus she is just so cute I want to squeeze her.

Lindsay @ Cotter Crunch

I actually had the pleasure of meeting this beautiful lady in person.  A brief encounter, but Oh so sweet, and I know we will meet again to drink wine (and kombucha) go to yoga classes and LAUGH together.  Lindsay is a pretty incredible lady – she manages her husband who is a professional triathlete, plus runs her own small business on the side.

Ami @ Parsnips and Pears

I think Ami and me may either be twins separated at birth, or we could possibly be the same person.  Except that she lives in Canada and has Holden, and I live in Aussie and have Misty.  No, we couldn’t be the same person, but woah Nelly are we similar…. I feel so comforted when I visit Parsnips and Pears – like I’m going home or something?  Ami is so down to earth and makes the BEST lunches for her toddler Holden, EVER.  As in, I would actually steal lunch off a small child, even if he cried – they are that good.  And I’m a very mean lady.

Bethaney  @ Flashpacker Family

B is relatively new to the blogging-world, but she is out of the gate like an angry bull.  (weird comparison there but anyway).  She is a Mama just like me, but leads a pretty exciting (not to mention BRAVE) nomadic lifestyle…. travelling all over the show with her husband and toddler.  Just the thought of taking Misty overseas is enough to make me want to mess my wicked knickers.  If you have itchy feet, B is the lady to go to for travel tips!

Cara @ Fork and Beans

I cannot do this lady justice with words.  Just go to her site and ogle at her creativity and pizazz when it comes to vegan, gluten free cooking.  Not to mention she is just an awesome, groovy chick.

Britt @ BlissfulBritt

If you want to laugh and be enetertained – check out Britt.  She is just fabulous.  She has recently adopted a “Vegan diet with Benefits” and has such a cool and happy approach to life.

Alexia @ Namaste Yoga

Yogini, runner, raw food recipe-creator extraordinaire.  This lady sure is talented and SO full of information.  I hope to take one of her yoga classes some day!

Anyway, there are my “wicked knickers” ladies.  Funny, I don’t seem to read any blogs by male authors.  Suggestions?  I also need cocktail/mocktail recommendations for my ‘not-a Hen’s-party’ – please share!

THANK YOU! For such a sweet shout out lovely. I love reading blogs from all kinds of people, for all kinds of reasons, but I totally KNOW (without you know… tempting fate or anything) that you are a blogger I could meet and just click with. I totally KNOW.
And, since we are talking about reasons we love blogs in general, can I just say I love your total honesty, modesty and sweetness?… all of which seem to be rare traits in bloggers and I love how you have them ALL down.
Youve also totally inspired me to definitely post tomorrow the post that has been in the making since Monday. I am SO lazy sometimes.. :) xoxox

    • Lou says :

We would TOTALLY click, Em – I know it :) I know when I find a blog that I can truly “hear” a person’s “voice” then I will go back and back for more! Your voice and spirit is truly genuine and I LOVE that.

Yay, looking forward to a new post from you (being lazy is so GREAT sometimes though, huh?!) x

  2. Kari @ bite-sized thoughts says :

These do indeed look very delicious – and that is a great list of blogs, some of which I don’t yet know. I will have fun exploring them :)

  3. Gabby @ the veggie nook says :

Lou, you are such an amazing, sweet gal! (Haha yes I said gal). Your little blurb on my blog was so kind and it really warmed me all up inside! And since we’re on the topic of things that are wicked awesome (I think knickers sounds odd in a Canadian accent lol)- your blog is hands down one of my favourites! You are so down to earth, kind and honest and I love coming by here everyday :)

I haven’t read a lot of these blogs actually, so I can’t wait to check them out! You can never have too many blogs to read right? ;)

    • Lou says :

Ha, carnival in his mouth, love it :)

Oh yes yes, keep creating popcorn ball flavours… how easy and how GOOD are they? I’m thinking of a cherry/coconut flavour next!

Hope you have a great visit. Sounds like an amazing time! I’m always partial to wine as far as drinks go…. maybe a homemade sangria?? Yum!

    • Lou says :

mmmm yes Sangria is a good option, Ami, I agree!

Watch out, I may take you up on that lunch offer some day (sigh) when I am rich and can spend my time gallavanting the globe…. Holden will probably be about 45 by then, so make sure you hold on to that buzzy bee plate because it’s my favourite ;)

I have never heard of “Wicked Knickers”, are they common in Australia? But that looks really good. I love anything unique! Look forward to your tweets & blog posts.

    • Lou says :

Ha, “Wicked Knickers” is my phrase to describe anything that is AWESOME. Just one of those little sayings ;) Thanks for reading!

  9. Bethaney - Flashpacker Family says :

Awesome! Love that I’m angry bull. I’m about to get seriously aggressive with my blog promoting now that I’m home for a few months with “nothing” to do.

I am SO going to attempt some chocolate dipped popcorn balls! I’m salivating at the thought. After months away from a kitchen I’m furiously making things all the time. I didn’t realise how much I missed my breadmaker while I was travelling. Is that sad!? I also bought a whizzy new food processor.

You’re on my links page too BTW. I forgot to tell you about it. http://flashpackerfamily.com/blog/blogs-we-love/

    • Lou says :

Ha, good luck doing “nothing” – I’m sure Reubs will have something to say about that ;)

Yay, new food processor! My favourite of favourite kitchen appliances…. being back in the kitchen must be so good.

Thanks for the linkage! Yay :)

  10. Hannah says :

Oh you beautiful, beautiful creature! Thank you for your splendiferous and soul-soaring words. One day we will meet in person and our hugs will result in an explosion of rainbow sparkles glittering all around us – even if we’re the only ones who can see them.

Enjoy your time with your not-hens! Perhaps your iridescent peacocks? Wait, hang on, it’s the male peacocks that are colourful, I think, so…. hmm. Your glitterfairy woman. Yes. Glitterfairy women.

    xo

  11. raechel says :

More amazing blogs to add to my already too-long list…more procrastination on my dissertation! Yikes! But worth it. : )

Also. OMG. Those popcorn balls already looked amazing, but dipped in CHOCOLATE!?!??! i need to make these, like, yesterday.

  12. Lou says :

Yes yes…. you need to make these popcorn balls so you can eat them while perusing these awesome blogs ;) That’s my idea of a good time for sure.

  13. Sara says :

Girl time rocks! I need it for my sanity. Otherwise, I start doing insane things, like trying to engage my man in a lengthy conversation about food or shoes… never works.

    • Lou says :

Girl time is crucial – particularly when your significant other wrangles the children! So so GOOD :)

  14. Alexia@ namasteYoga says :

oh i just saw u mentioned me in the post! thanks lou, thats really sweet of you! I have been away for some days so cant wait to do some catching up on your blog! love your raw choc balls!
